Finance Energy Efficiency Upgrades Through Your Monthly Bill

Are you tired of your high-energy costs? Are you afraid to open your bill every month, dreading what the statement will say? It would be nice to upgrade your home to be more energy efficient, but it just costs so much. Well, Nichols, NY, now the state of New York is offering a program called on-bill financing. You can upgrade your home’s energy efficiency and finance the projects through your monthly bill.

This new program goes into effect Monday, February 6, 2012. The program offers homeowners 5, 10 or 15-year loans with interest rates of 2.99 percent. The loan will be figured into your monthly bill paying it back each time you make a payment on your energy bill. Home projects can begin immediately and the first payment will not be due until June. One of the highlights of the program is that your monthly bill is required to be lower than it was before your energy upgrades.

According to, New York homeowners spend and average of $2,500 a year on energy. By upgrading your home to become more energy efficient, you can save 20-60% a year, which come out to $1,500. Not only does upgrading your home save you money, it makes it more comfortable and welcoming.

There are several ways to make your home more energy efficient. Some upgrades require little to no cost, and some are more costly, such as replacing appliances. With on-bill financing however, it makes it easier to stop the money leaking out of your home. For more information and to submit an application, visit the Upgrade Upstate website. It will guide you through creating a more energy efficient home. And stop by Jim’s RV Nichols, NY, and let us know what you have upgraded in your home to make it more energy efficient.
