3 Must-Visit Fishing Spots in New York

Whether you’re into river, lake or saltwater fishing, the state of New York has it all. The Empire State isn’t only for city dwellers, it’s actually a hotspot for outdoor enthusiasts and sportsmen too. The following are three of our favorite places to drop a line in the water and reel in the day’s best catches.

Oneida Lake

Oneida Lake is famous for its bass fishing, and nearby Syracuse makes for a convenient camping home base. A number of high-profile bass fishing tournaments take place on Oneida Lake every year, and trophy-size fish have been caught there many times. It’s a popular New York fishing destination, but the New York State Department of Conservation has helped smallmouth and largemouth bass flourish in the area. Perch and walleye are also frequently caught at Oneida Lake, so don’t be surprised if you catch more than you can eat.

Delaware River and Tributaries

If you’re not afraid to stand knee-deep in the flowing Delaware River, you’ll catch your fill of brown and rainbow trout at this river fishing mecca. Roscoe, a small fishing town in the Catskills, was named one of the country’s best fishing towns in 2011. Fly fishing is the most popular angling style in the river and tributaries.

Hudson River

Residents of the Big Apple have plenty of places to fish too. The Hudson River flows along the eastern portion of New York before it forms the state’s border with New Jersey. It has a reputation for being an urban river, but it’s actually 315-miles long, offering some of the most desired striped bass fishing in the U.S. The season lasts from spring to fall, which is ideal for visitors hoping to see New York in its warmest months.

It uses solar power to light up six bright LEDs that can brighten your entrance or any outdoor space. Even better, this LED porch light features dawn/dusk sensors and motion sensors, so you don’t have to worry about wasting energy.

Detachable RV Clothesline

If you’re headed to the beach this summer, you’ll probably be using a lot of bathing suits and towels. This convenient, rust-resistant clothesline attaches to all 4 and 4.5-foot-long RV bumpers.

3 Must-Visit National Parks in New York

Not all of New York’s fame comes from New York City. The Empire State is home to a number of natural wonders that can only be seen by venturing into the state’s less populated areas. The following are three New York national parks that you don’t want to miss on your spring and summer RV travels.

Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area — Albany

You don’t have to venture too far from the city to get a taste of New York’s breathtaking wilderness. The Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area spans from the city to Albany. History and famous residences are combined with gardens, gorgeous landscaping and scenic parks to create an outdoor escape for city dwellers. Explore the area on foot, bike or with a paddle.

Niagara Falls National Heritage Area — Niagara Falls

Whether it’s your first or 50th time visiting Niagara Falls, you’re bound to be blown away. The Niagara Falls National Heritage Area includes the communities of Lewiston, Youngstown and Niagara Falls and spans from Wheatfield to the mouth of the great Niagara River. Take an exhilarating tour of the falls on the Maid of the Mist riverboat and allow yourself plenty of time to take in the splendor of the falls. Although, don’t miss out on the heritage area’s unique towns, museums and other cultural sites.

Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River — Delaware County

The Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River runs along the New York and Pennsylvania border from Delaware County to Orange County. The crystal clear river water is an ideal place to fish, kayak, canoe, raft and simply take in the breathtaking scenery and fun riverfront villages. If you’re traveling with a group of water lovers, the winding Delaware River is the perfect place to cool off on a hot summer day.
