Hot Fishing Spots In New York

Before you pick your favorite fishing spot – or hunt one down – be sure to have your RV serviced. Or, if you don’t have an RV and have the fishing bug but want to stay out more than a day, stop by and walk through the floor plans we have available for travel trailers, toy haulers, fifth wheels and motorized RV models.

Getting your RV serviced at Jim’s RV Center in Nichols, New York is important if you haven’t had it serviced yet. We’ll check the plumbing, electrical and gas systems to make sure everything is working properly. If you get out to the camping spot and something isn’t working properly, you’re not going to be a happy camper.

Pick a spot on the Hudson River for largemouth and smallmouth bass. You’ll find them around tributary mouths and where there are pilings and logs in the river. The best time to catch bass is in the summer and fall. For best results, use cut or live herring or minnow imitating plugs.

If you’re looking for trout, fish the Delaware River in the branches below the Pepacton and Cannonsville reservoirs – you’ll catch your share of rainbow and brown trout. While you may catch trout in the summer, you’ll have better luck in the spring when the water is colder.

Lake Champlain will net you lake trout, brown trout, landlocked salmon, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, northern pike and walleye. The Finger Lakes also have brown trout and rainbow trout. If you prefer steelhead trout or Pacific salmon, head over to Lake Ontario.

Other lakes that are top fishing spots include Cayuga Lake for trout, black bass and landlocked salmon; Seneca Lake for northern pike, rainbow trout, brown trout, lake trout and smallmouth bass; Keuka Lake for trout and salmon; and Chautauqua Lake for muskellunge, crappie, panfish and walleye.
