Keep The Kids And Pets Happy While On The Road With These Tips

Jims_July_04

RV travelers are gearing up for family vacations this summer. You’re packing bags and deciding on your itinerary to have a great trip out on the open road. If you’re wondering how to occupy kids and pets on the journey, Jim’s RV has some helpful tips:

1: Keep Kids Entertained

While pets will lay down and snooze for most of the trip, or are just happy to look at the window at the passing scenery, children need something to do to occupy their time. Have games that they can play that don’t cause a mess or get out of hand. Board games, card games, and trivia games are great ways for kids to be entertained. Coloring and puzzle books are great ideas too. There’s always the classic novel.

2: Schedule Rest Stops

If your trip will be long, you need to schedule rest stop breaks along the way to let everyone stretch their legs. You can let pets run for a bit and relieve themselves. Stretching out muscles will have everyone feeling better.

3: Remember The Snacks

Kids and pets can get cranky when they are hungry. Instead of stopping by a fast food joint, have some snacks prepared beforehand that are easy to munch on. This includes having snacks for your pets, who will settle down and enjoy the ride better on a full stomach.

4: Bring Your Pet’s Favorite Bedding Along

Some pets get nervous or anxious in moving vehicles. To have your pets keep calm in your new RV, bring along your pet’s favorite bedding and chew toys. Let your dog relax and chew on his toys in a quiet area of the RV where there is little excitement that can cause the pet to become more anxious.

Everyone Will Enjoy the Open Road On Your RV Trip

Vacation should be fun for everyone. By taking the time to plan your trip when you are bringing kids and pets along, you’ll reduce the problems you experience. Get ready to have a fun time with your entire family by following the above tips to keep your pets and kids happy no matter how long your trip will be to other destinations. Remember to drop by Jim’s RV before you head out for any RV maintenance or service you need.

The Best Beaches on the East Coast for RV Enthusiasts

America’s East Coast is home to some of our country’s best beaches. Whether you’re looking for a secluded North Carolina beach getaway, the towering palm trees of South Florida or a place to park your RV and let loose with friends, an East Coast beach is waiting for you this summer. These three summer beach destinations are ones you don’t want to miss.

Cape Hatteras — North Carolina

North Carolina’s Outer Banks are a 200-mile-long stretch of barrier islands that sit off the coast of the Tarheel State and a small part of Virginia. They’re known for offering some of the most secluded stretches of beach in the country, where your family can enjoy long summer beach days without struggling to find a parking space or a place to lay your towels.

Visitors love the Cape Hatteras area for its gorgeous cape Hatteras Lighthouse, calm salt marshes, pristine beaches and starry skies. Even better, there are a number of RV-friendly campgrounds that will let you set up camp just steps from the sand.

Juno Beach — Florida

If you’re looking for a beach getaway that offers hot summer temperatures, swaying palm trees and tropical turquoise waters, Juno Beach is one of the best places in the country to park your RV. Stay at the Juno Ocean Walk RV Resort, and you’ll enjoy a short walk to the Palm Beach area’s breathtaking beaches. Visitors can take part in activities held at the RV resort or venture just a few minutes away to world class golf courses, sport fishing charters, pristine beaches, shopping and countless other Florida activities.

Atlantic City — New Jersey

RV enthusiasts looking for non-stop fun on their summer vacation will find it in Atlantic City. This New Jersey coastal town feels a lot like Las Vegas at the beach with casinos, 24-hour bars and restaurants, music venues and everything you need to let loose with your friends. The Atlantic City boardwalk is one of the best in the U.S., so bring plenty of money to spend on games, shopping and quick eats.
