There isn’t many days left of winter – and for those of you who store the RV until warmer weather, it’s time to start planning that first RV vacation for the spring. While you might not be ready to pull the wheel covers off, clean the interior and pack it up, you can figure out where you want to go and pick up any accessories you might need for your first spring trip of 2015.

Make a List and Check it Twice

No, not for Christmas, but for your first trip. Check the RV for things you might need and make a list. Head over to Jim’s RV Center in Nichols, New York to pick up the accessories and anything else you need for spring cleaning and dewinterization.

Find Some Great Places to Visit

Find some great places to visit then decide which one you want to visit first. If your first trip is spring break and the kids are out of school for a week, you’ll want to choose a trip that will keep them occupied.

Beavers Bend State Park

If you want to go south, head out to Beavers Bend State Park in Oklahoma. The park features over 16 miles of trails for hiking and biking, river float trips, trout fishing, golfing, horseback riding and tons of other family activities. Nearby sites offer goat feeding (Honey Bear Ranch), chainsaw sculpting at Hochatown Junction Station and even going out on yakanoes on Broken Bow Lake. RV parks nearby include Beaver’s Bend Resort Park, beaversbendcom; Hotchatown RV Park, hochatownrvpark.com; and Broken Bow Inn and RV Park, brokenbowinnandrvpark.com.

Old Orchard Beach

Head east to Old Orchard Beach, Maine for tons of fun. The town offers camping, an amusement park and tons of festivals throughout the year. Winter and spring festivals include the 26th Annual Lobster Dip, a festival that runs from January 1 through January 26. Watch or join in. The festival takes place on the beach in font of the Brunswick Hotel. For more information call (207) 879-0489 or email ianf at somaine.org.

From April 5 through April 8, Old Orchard Beach features its 8th Annual Easter Egg Extravaganza. This festival features fun things for people of all ages including an Easter egg hunt and photos with the Old Orchard Beach Bunny. For more information call (207) 934-0860.
