Taking a Weekend Trip to Philly in Your RV

Philadelphia in your RV

While your RV is ideal for visiting National Parks and campgrounds, there’s no reason why you can’t drive it into a city instead. If you want a different kind of RV vacation, yet don’t have a whole lot of time to spend out of town, consider a weekend trip to Philadelphia. The city is full of history, attractions, and entertainment, so there’s no chance you’ll run out of places to see or things to do in just a weekend. To that end, you might even find it hard to decide what’s worth your time. Here’s your weekend guide to the City of Brotherly Love.

See Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell

Philadelphia is, first and foremost, a city of history. Philadelphia’s history is entrenched with America’s early days. Independence Hall, for example, is where the Declaration of Independence was signed, the Constitution was adopted, and the Second Continental Congress met. Philadelphia was also, for a time, our nation’s capital. You can also check out the Liberty Bell, which was originally set inside the steeple of Independence Hall. Be sure to see the cobblestoned Elfreth’s Alley, which is the oldest continuously habitated residential street in the United States. Most houses on the alley have plaques that detail how old the structure is and who’s lived there. Old City is where all of these attractions are located, and the district is full of original colonial structures.

Eat All the Cheesesteaks

If New York City has pizza, Philadelphia has cheesesteaks. The only question is: where’s the best place for a cheesesteak in the city? If you can only eat two cheesesteaks, make sure they’re at Geno’s and Pat’s. They’re located right across the street from one another (so it won’t be difficult to grab one of each) and Philadelphia is split on which one is better. The rivalry is decades old. Don’t miss your chance to weigh in while you eat some delicious cheesesteak!

Visit the Iconic LOVE Sign

Make sure you stroll past the iconic bright red “LOVE” sign, which represents what the City of Brotherly Love is all about. It’s pretty much a required place for a selfie if you visit Philly. Not to mention that Love Park is a great place for taking a breather. You can do some people watching or even partake in any event that’s happening in the park (there are frequent events, so who knows what will be going on?).

Visit Jim’s RV Center
