Thanksgiving Events in New York

Whether you spend Thanksgiving at home, at a relative’s house, at a friend’s house or in a restaurant, you’ll want to head out to some Thanksgiving events, especially if you have family from out of state visiting.

Prep the RV by having it checked or serviced at Jim’s RV Center in Nichols, New York, then head out to some of these events. You may already do some of these things as tradition; and if you don’t, you might make them a family tradition from now on.

Macy’s Parade Balloon Inflation

This ritual is held before Thanksgiving Day near the American Museum of Natural History. Visit the various inflation stations to see the balloons come to life in preparation for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The inflation event starts at 3:00 p.m. and runs through to 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26. You’ll be able to get all your baking and pre-holiday cooking done before it’s time to see the balloons come to life. If you want to attend the Thanksgiving Day parade, it starts at West 77th and Central Park West.

The Annual Post-Thanksgiving Multiethnic Eating Tour

If you aren’t still stuffed from eating tons on Thanksgiving Day, head over to Manhattan for the Annual Post-Thanksgiving Multiethnic Eating Tour. The tour takes place in the Lower East Side, Little Italy and Chinatown. The tour starts at 11:00 a.m. and ends at 2:00 p.m. For more information, visit bigonion.com.

Arlo Guthrie’s Annual Thanksgiving Concert

If you still can’t get enough of Alice’s Restaurant, visit Carnegie Hall, 152 W. 57th Street on Saturday, November 29, 2014 for a charity concert of folk standards and a rendition of Alice’s Restaurant Massacree.”

Thanksgiving Cruise

Visit Hudson River Park at Pier 40, Houston Street at West Street on Thursday, November 27, 2014 for a holiday cruise. You’ll be treated to a Thanksgiving buffet with all the traditional trimmings, plus you can watch the big football game on a huge flatscreen television. Enjoy a glass of sparkling wine at the door – yes, as soon as you arrive, the party starts.

Visit Jim’s RV Center

Be sure to check or service your RV at Jim’s RV before heading into the city for these events. And, you might want to make reservations at the RV park of your choice. Even though the weather is cooler and can be downright cold, you may find many of the parks full.
